Head Coaches '25-'26
MITE A (8U): Jon Frank
When you love where you came from, it’s a pleasure to go back and give back to the organization as an adult. Coach Jon is doing just that, having played for the Hawks from Learn-to-Skate through the U10 level and returning now to coach our Mites.
Aside from youth hockey, he has college hockey experience from his time at University of Minnesota and Davenport University. He also inspired our youngest players as the coach for our in-house development league and Learn-to-Play clinic last year. He is excited to expand that experience as a head coach for Mites this year, helping kids develop their hockey skills and enjoy coming to the rink for practices and games.
Jon has two kids in the Hawks program.
MITE B (8U): Derek Gugliemi
Coach Derek grew up playing hockey locally with the Central Connecticut Capitals, where he was part of the 2001 Bantams Division II State Championship team. He then played high school hockey in Rocky HIll, serving as team captain for two of his three seasons on that team. After high school, Derek continued his playing career with the Bryant University club hockey team and has remained active in the game ever since, now playing in a competitive men's league.
Derek began his coaching career last season, contributing to the in-house development program where he helped young players learn and grow in the sport. This year, he continues his coaching journey with the Mites program, focusing on developing players' fundamental skills, instilling confidence, and fostering a love for the game.
Hockey is a family passion for Derek, with his son currently also in the Mites program.
MITE C (8U): Jonathan Orser
Coach Jonathan grew up in a hockey family, playing and skating from age 4 all the way up to men's league as an adult. He began officiating as a teen and became a level 2 official, even officiating the state tournament games.
Once his son began to play hockey, Coach Jonathan was excited to get back into the game and wanted to help develop the next generation of players. He's enjoying developing the kids and teaching them new skills.
SQUIRT A (10U): Jake DeGennaro
Coach Jake has had an extensive coaching career which started in 2006 at Conard High School in West Hartford, and spanning all age and skill levels from Mites through Juniors. He has even owned two premier youth hockey organizations – the Northern Connecticut Wings summer showcase program and The Connecticut Lazers AAA Youth Hockey Organization, both which drew top tier players at various age levels and which even have some alumni in the NHL.
With experience running summer hockey camps and specialty skills clinics focusing on age-appropriate development including power skating and puck skills, he is well poised to coach our young players as well as be our Player/Skills Development Director for the Hawks organization overall.
Coach Jake currently has two children playing in the Hawks organization.
SQUIRT B: Justin Rindos
Coach Justin has been involved with hockey for more than 30 years and is excited to share his passion for the game as a coach. He began playing in West Haven at age 10 and then played 4 years of varsity hockey for the team now known as the Milford Mariners. He continued in college through pick-up and still laces up his skates for games today in the Connecticut Hockey League men's division.
In addition to coaching hockey, Justin has experience coaching basketball and baseball. This past year, he coached Wallingford Hawks In-house players, including his son. That experience not only strengthened his commitment to the Hawks but also allowed him to meet great families along the way.
As a coach, he believes in teaching the necessary skills and discipline while making sure the game remains fun. His goal is to help players develop both on and off the ice, building confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong love for the sport.
PEEWEE (12U): Jamie Feigelson
Coach Jamie is entering his fourth year with the Hawks but has been coaching hockey for over 6 years. He previously was an assistant coach for the Hawks Squirt program and grew up playing hockey all over the Tri-State area. Aside from high school hockey on Long Island, Jamie has experience with collegiate roller hockey at the University of Florida in the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association.
He is a life-long supporter of the New York Rangers, so hopefully all the local Bruins fans can see past that and focus on his passion for the game and for teaching it to the kids. He views his role as coach as an important one since playing hockey, and working hard to reach goals, can be translated into skills that the players can apply later in life.
Jamie has two sons in the Hawks organization.
BANTAM (14U): Billy Demetriades
With more than 43 years of experience as a player (including 4 years of Division I hockey at Sacred Heart University), referee, or coach, Coach Billy is expert in hockey & skating skills, game strategy, rules, drills, and more. He has the amazing ability to be “one of the kids” in spirit but a firm, respected educator and coach for our players, keeping them in line, motivated, exhibiting sportsmanship and always gaining in skill.
This is his fourth season with the Hawks along with his daughter, Emily, a Bantam this year. His son, Billy was a Hawk for 3 years and played on the Midget team.
Just two years ago, Billy was Inducted into the East Haven High School hall of fame for hockey.
Last year, Billy had many achievements to celebrate, including coaching the East Haven high school team to win the DII State Championship and leading the Hawks Bantams to a state championship title as well.
Billy's knowledge, passion, and skill take Hawks players far in their development and love for the game.
